Beckett Simonon has grown quickly over the last few months. There were only a couple of shoes on their website when I first bought the Caine oxfords for my wedding a few years ago. Since then, they’ve added several new products, including loafers, brogues, sneakers, bomber jackets, and backpacks.
PRAKTICALA did extensive field testing for their latest pair of shoes. Read the Beckett Simonon Durant brogues dress shoe review below!
Recently, the company has ventured into outerwear, with a suede bomber jacket meant to suit the professional just as well as the rock star. Read our full review below, plus get our exclusive promo code for $15 off your order!
The photos from the website didn’t really give me an accurate idea of the product, but the promise of full-grain leather was too good for me to pass up. I took a chance and ordered one of the last units available. Fortunately, I wasn’t disappointed!
John Doe Shoes is a brand I’ve had my eye on for awhile – since my original search for decent shoes for my wedding. I originally passed them over in favor of trying otherbrands, largely because the product photography on the website wasn’t that great (sorry).
Since then, their photography has improved, as has their inventory, making them a more prominent player in the startup footwear category. I finally was able to get a pair – read my John Doe Shoes Whisky Box Calf Bonucci Oxford review below!
Remember those Ralph Lauren boat shoes I wrote about a while back? They are cool and all, but as I said back then, fashion denim doesn’t exactly cut it if you need footwear sturdy enough for, you know, an actual boat.
The two most well-known examples of legitimate boat shoes are Sperry Top-siders and Sebago Docksides. Need help deciding which is best for you? Read our comparison here!
UPDATE: These shoes are in! Check out my review here! Plus, take $15 off your order with promo code PRAKTICALA15! (EDIT: Unfortunately, our promo code is no longer valid. However, you can still get the same discount by following our link here!)
Beckett Simonon must be doing something right because their business is really starting to take off: recently, they announced yet another line of “premium” shoes that are being funded initially through Kickstarter. So what about the shoes that I already have? What are they, chopped liver??
Though I’m not 100% sure about what makes the upcoming line more “premium” than the Beckett Simonon shoes I’ve reviewed in the past, I do know that they’ve added a ton of new styles and colors, most notably burgundy (which you need to wear more often) and pebbled brown. The assortment of styles include monk straps (cool), loafers WITH TASSELS (FAHncy), brogues (can’t beat ‘em), and chukkas.
Beckett Simonon’s shoe lineup has since been updated. I was able to get my hands on a pair of their Cohen loafers to see some of the changes in person. Plus – keep reading to see our exclusive promo code to take $15 off your order!
EDIT: Beckett Simonon is launching a somewhat new, pre-order based business model, so the Cohen loafers are no longer available. You can read about the relaunched business here, or visit here to see Beckett Simonon’s current lineup of products.
